An interesting item has been published by an academic at the Duke University’ Global Health Institute. It analyzes the response to the Covid pandemic.
The article is filled some of the usual progressive/ socialist talking points. But the author– Dr. Gavin Yamey– makes two glaring admissions:
Poor communication of evidence… led to inappropriate actions…
For example, even after studies had shown that transmission by fomites (objects and surfaces) was rare and transmission outdoors was much less common than indoors, some municipalities or states kept parks, playgrounds, and beaches closed.
And after research had shown that schools could be reopened safely with basic public health measures, too many jurisdictions kept schools online only.
What is the problem? First, our esteemed major medical centers in North Carolina– Duke, UNC, Wake Forest and ECU– were usually silent as these bad decisions were being made. And they were occasionally supportive of these types of decisions.
The public health departments at these major universities could have been a corrective when our state government was going rogue. They could have spoken and called out the fraudulent approaches being taken. They could have demanded and educated everyone regarding historic public health practices and ethics. But instead, they remained mostly silent.
These institutions failed miserably by keeping quiet . They aided and abetted the overreactions of state government . This will be a chapter in the history of the COVID pandemic.
Precisely, Fred. And remember– each of them has their own hospital systems dependent on federal Medicare and Medicaid dollars; and each one vies for massive amounts of research funding from the federal government– and NIH in particular.
They are conflicted because they can’t cross their federal masters. And thus we have corrupt academic medical centers in North Carolina.
Sorta lengthy, but full of data:
“Pointlessness And Cost Of COVID Travel Restrictions”
Jay Bhattacharya, a professor of medicine, economics, and health research policy at Stanford University…now thinks something similar to an NTSB review of a disastrous aircraft crash is needed to look at how governments mishandled the virus.

Good article, JayCee. Bhattacharya was one of the good guys from the outset.
An NTSB-type review would not be inappropriate given the fact that government created a huge train wreck. Some have suggested a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” of sorts. I think we need grand juries and military tribunals. And we ought to start right here in North Carolina.
Dr Yamey’s admissions are better than nothing. The Plandemic was a massive crime.
I agree with all the comments above, especially Triad’s “…each of them has their own hospital systems dependent on federal Medicare and Medicaid dollars; and each one vies for massive amounts of research funding from the federal government– and NIH in particular.” To wit, noting the fascistic nature of our health system that enabled the massive crime.
Absolutely, Healey. And it was those hospital systems that were administering the vaccine in huge numbers, and requiring the vaccine among their employees even before Biden issued his mandates.
