The News and Record reports that the state Senate has passed its second reading of the deannexation bill in connection with political donor David Couch’s property in Summerfield. Couch had used his connections as a member of the donor class to secure legislation favorable to his economic interests with Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly.
The Republicans in Raleigh are destroying their brand. It is difficult to find much of anything they are doing at this point that serves the interests of its base.
