Doing The Right Thing

I remember doing a brief residency rotation more than 35 years ago at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. I remember the female occupational health nurse telling me that the female recruits could not– and did not– meet the same requirements as men; and that a large number were no longer available to serve because they were getting pregnant. The issue has persisted until now:

  1. The purpose of the military is to kill people and break things.
    Any program, policy, or standard which does not strengthen these abilities should be eliminated.
