Pope Francis appointed ultraliberal California Cardinal Robert McElroy to become archbishop of Washington, DC this week. This is a clear move to oppose President Trump on the matter of deporting illegal immigrants.
McElroy is also an LGBTQ advocate.
Of course, Francis and McElroy cannot devise a biblical basis for these positions– because it simply is not there.
But the lack of scriptural support has not constrained Catholic leadership over the centuries on various matters.
American Catholics ought to oppose this kind of corrupt leadership.
Addendum: McElroy also supports communion for pro-abortion Catholics.
The Pope can appoint Elmer Fudd to become Archbishop but the deportations will be carried out. So there !
