A story at Fox 8 shares that one aspiration of our city’s leadership is to have such a robust public transportation system that cars will be optional by the year 2045.
It will be interesting getting to that point. Past attempts to expand public transit have been met with empty buses. The only times the buses filled up occurred when gas prices shot up dramatically.
The goal is to have so many bus lines covering every part of the city so that people will no longer need cars. But how many years will we have to subsidize lines that are not used much in order to reach this goal? Imagine a rapidly expanding public transit budget that achieves virtually nothing!
Left out of this utopian vision is the taxpayer who drives cars.
This is folly. Insane!
Fred, these people actually believe they are doing a good thing. Of course, the governing philosophy of the city council enables this nonsense.
