The News and Record reports it took place in the parking lot directly outside the center.
Recall that The Interactive Resource Center, funded by the City of Greensboro, has been the object of much concern recently for various reasons. This is a classic example of progressivism that poses as being compassionate and empathetic, but which actually turns out to be destructive.
Expect more tax $$$ to be tossed their way, as the typical liberal response to any social problem is to throw more money at it with layers of bureaucracy to “administer” the program.
That is very insightful, Jaycee. I am afraid you might be right. Fools run our city; and many other fools populate it.
I see much of this as a self-perpetuating problem.
The more “free stuff” the gov’t gives away, the bigger the crowd that lines up to get free stuff.
Realizing that the demand now exceeds the supply, the gov’t funds more and more free stuff.
And the crowd to get the free stuff continues to grow.
So the gov’t must fund even MORE free stuff to meet the demand…
And pretty soon the gov’t sees the recipients as “entitled” to the free stuff (“They can’t survive without our help!”) so funding must increase ad infinitum.
Rhetorical question:
How long would that homeless guy stand on the corner if nobody ever gave him a single penny??
I’m sorry that people make bad life decisions and suffer the consequences, but just how does that obligate me to fund their dysfunctional lifestyle?
I agree, JayCee. I would add that there are other, better ways to help the homeless.
But funding programs such as this represents vote buying. City Council members ingratiate themselves with the local progressive/ socialist crowd, which is substantial.
