The Daily Haymaker posted this week about State Treasurer Dale Folwell who has sent a communication demanding reimbursement from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina to recover monies for the state’s taxpayers. Folwell is serving his final weeks in office.
Two of the most unfortunate aspects of the recent election season is that we are losing stalwarts like Dale Folwell and Dan Bishop.
The Haymaker reports that Folwell’s replacement– a Republican– will be the polar opposite of Folwell. That is very unfortunate.
I hope that somehow there can be a place where Folwell and Bishop can continue to serve in Raleigh or in Washington. It seems that Bishop might be a worthy candidate for a position in the Trump Administration. I know that Trump likes Bishop.
Perhaps Folwell might be also a candidate for a position at the federal level; or alternatively, he might fill an important legislative appointment or nomination at the state level. The state House and Senate leadership always have oodles of positions they need to fill.
I don’t know whether these guys are inclined to continue, but it seems a waste to see such great men fade into retirement when they were eager to continue to serve.
Yeah, hate to see them go.
There’s got to be a place for them… if they are willing at this point, Fred. Otherwise, such a waste of men who exhibit integrity with the positions they take.
Triad, you are so right. NC has not been blessed with good conservative leaders (Tillis, Budd, McHenry, Foxx, etc.), and these 2 seem like the cream of the existing crop. Trump would do well to appoint to one of so many offices he needs to fill.
I hope he does, assuming they want it. It is somewhat of a cruel reality for those of us living here that the federal elections could have gone so well, and our local and state elections were so disappointing. The big exception appears to be the state judiciary.
Griffin has an 8 thousand vote lead in the Supreme Ct. race, but the longer the voting is extended, the more likely boxes of Emergency Democrat Votes show up.
And there are shenanigans taking place in a limited number of counties. I hope his margin survives these efforts, Healey.
